There are a few extensions I've used in this wiki

  • {!ctf} helps wiki pages flow about, link more efficiently and break up filter bubbles;
    • What's Popular - bottom of main page
    • Personal Recommendations, based on click traffic - bottom of user pages
    • Related Pages, also based on click traffic - bottom of other pages
    • font size shows link relevance, colour shows how recently it was last edited
    • with intros on, user pages (e.g. User:Gav) appear in what's popular, recommendations and related pages. This way like-minded users are "introduced" to each other ...
  • simple included external images
  • html5 tag for videos, sound etc

There are lots of other things you can integrate

  • calendars
  • comments
  • rating systems
  • RSVP's
  • maps
  • whatever you like

The point is, its very adaptable.
