The {!ctf} extension on this wiki puts Personal Recommendations at the bottom of each user page.
These recommendations are calculated from the traffic moving between things you have seen (fairly recently) and things which are related to those things by other peoples' traffic and you haven't.
It shows you what's going on in your immediate vicinity, normally the most efficient way to spread information.
